Born in 1969.
He lives and works in Cotonou (Benin).
Self-taught artist, Dominique Zinkpè made his first steps by participating in numerous workshops and residency programmes in Africa and Europe.
The artist’s work is greatly influenced by the rich history of his native country. He creates works in which compositions are largely inspired by animist culture, religion and his own internal struggles.
His approach is complex and diverse. Far from confining himself to a single plastic writing, he appropriates all kinds of media, as long as they allow him to express himself: installation, drawing, painting, sculpture, video. When reviewing his work, it seems obvious that he does not want to lock himself into a single process of creation.
