Tina Tictone

18.03.2023 – 06.05.2023

The transmission of an immaterial and shared feminine heritage is the cornerstone of Tina Tictone’s artistic creation. Her research between France and Morocco has given her the possibility to navigate in other places, other horizons. Strongly influenced by her residencies at Jardin Rouge and the meeting of weavers in the Atlas Mountains, her exploration of tapestry draws a new symbolism from the discovery of Berber culture. The exchange around artisanal tapestries which are made exclusively by women unveils to her the connotative richness of the signs articulating secret narratives.

Tina Tictone’s art resounds like an intimate compendium. The female body in its relationship to femininity, sexuality and motherhood are the backdrop of her artistic creation. The artist weaves, draws, sculpts, and delicately questions the symbolism of the thread, in what binds us, leads us, determines us but also fixes us.

Highly evocative, Tina Tictone’s works are articulated like manuscripts collecting the imprints of encounters during her travels. The needle emerges in all its materiality and indicates this fragile weft between inside and outside, between the matter and the delicacy of her subject.
