Born in 1963
He lives and works in Paris (France).
John Andrew Perello, alias JonOne, founded the group 156 All Starz in 1984 in New York. At the age of 17, he started working in the graffiti world with his childhood friend White Man. He often says that “the New York underground was a museum that crossed the city”. Arriving in Paris in 1987, JonOne began painting on canvas in a studio at the Hôpital Ephémère. Since then, he has continued to exhibit all over the world, questioning the same issue of the urban environment and the explosion of standards.
Under the tireless impulse of creation, the artist superimposes considerable layers of writing to the point of illegibility, thus chanting his name in an obsessive dynamism that seems to revive the body of the letter, the strength of the word.
His first exhibition, entitled “Graffitism”, took place in 1990 at the Galerie Gleditsch 45 in Berlin (Germany). This was followed by group and solo exhibitions around the world (Tokyo, Monaco, Paris, Geneva, New York, Hong Kong, Brussels…). His paintings are present in numerous public and private collections.
